Welcome to ooolook photography, I’m Jill! Thank you for taking an interest in booking a family photography session. No occasion is too small to document with beautiful family portraits… whether you are celebrating a holiday, birthday, milestone, or just because it’s been a while, I’d love to get to know your family.

My goal with a family sessions is to show the fun dynamic of each individual family I work with. My approach is organic and lifestyle; I want you to be in a comfortable setting to be yourselves. But I can also offer extra direction to capture that perfect family portrait if desired. I use natural lighting, and book sessions anywhere in the Los Angeles area.

COVID-19 UPDATE:

My first priority is the safety of my clients and myself. I will follow all current safety guidelines provided by the California Department of Public Health during my sessions and will only be booking outdoors at this time. I am happy to talk through any concerns. My goal is to make everyone feel comfortable. If anyone in your family has any symptoms associated with covid-19, please contact me immediately and we can reschedule. Thank you for working with me to keep safe.

Booking and Payment

Photo shoots occur on Saturdays and Sundays. I offer two time slots for outdoor sessions: morning or evening. I will determine available start times that provide the best natural lighting for your session — usually just after sunrise or before sunset. You can request your own location or pick from my list of common outdoor locations. Indoor sessions can be scheduled on an individual basis.

I do not charge a travel fee for shoots in Los Angeles County. For shoots outside of LA, I will determine travel fees at the time of booking.

Half the cost of the photography session is due when scheduling the session and reserves your date. I will also have you sign my standard contract and model release when booking. The remaining balance is due prior to receiving any digital files from the session. Payments can be made through my website or via Venmo: @ooolookphotography

You are purchasing edited and stylized digital files of your images only. I provide you with high and low resolution JPG files of the images from your session gallery as a digital download. You are obtaining digital files for personal use only, and may not sell prints.

If for any reason you need to cancel or reschedule the session please let me know at least 24 hours in advance. All deposits are nonrefundable. There is a rebooking fee, but I’d be happy to work with you on selecting a new date and time.

At the Session

Once we've arrived at our agreed upon location, I will spend a few minutes getting to know you and your family a bit more before starting the shoot. This helps everyone, especially children, feel more at ease.

It is extremely important to arrive to your session at least 10 minutes early. The sun doesn't wait, and I want the best light possible for your photos.

Your wardrobe should feel comfortable. Test out your outfit beforehand, and make sure it won’t lead to any tugging or pulling on while you move around during the session. Confidence is key when it comes to photo sessions, so it’s not the best time to try something completely new to you. Go for what you know, so that you’re not worried about how you look the entire session. If wearing a dress or skirt, keep in mind some poses will be seated so please make sure you’ll be comfortable and able to sit. Wear location-appropriate items: at a beach session expect your shoes to get sandy or wet. There will be light to moderate walking so comfy shoes always help. No shirts with large graphics or logos on the front.

Please avoid bringing anything more than you absolutely need during your session. I am happy to hold keys and phones or other small items to keep pockets empty in your photographs. No sunglasses; they get in the way and risk being damaged if we’re trying to store them. I understand with little ones a diaper bag or a small snack is needed, but please try to limit it to the bare necessities; I want you to be free of items so I can get the best photographs of your family.

If you have a family dog, that is okay around other people and well behaved, that you’d like to join you for your session that is great! Please bring treats and a toy I can use during the session to hold your pet’s attention and someone not partaking in your session that can safely hold and care for your pet when they are not joining in shots— they will not be in every photo so this is important.

After Your Session

Within three weeks you will receive an email from me containing a link to a private online gallery of the photographs from your session. It will also provide the final payment information. After receiving final payment, you will be able to download the edited and stylized high resolution (200ppi) and web-optimized digital JPG files from your gallery.

Additional albums or prints can be purchased separately from within your online gallery.

I keep my edits minimal and do minor retouching and processing of photos in Adobe's Lightroom and Photoshop programs. This includes removing minor blemishes, doing color correction and minor skin smoothing, and adjusting clarity and vibrance. You may request additional retouching on your photos for a fee based on the work required.
